Rolling Stock
MAINTENANCE
It represents a key factor for the reliability and safety of rail operations.
The SNTF has specialized workshops, engineers, and qualified technicians to ensure the preventive and corrective maintenance of locomotives, passenger cars, multiple units, wagons, and onboard equipment.
These operations include mechanical overhauls, electrical maintenance, brake system inspections, as well as modernization and refurbishment of rolling stock.

PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE
It aims to anticipate failures and ensure the reliability of rolling stock.
It is carried out according to a precise schedule, based on operating hours, kilometers traveled, or usage cycles.
These operations include, in particular: inspection of mechanical and electrical components, brake system checks, lubrication, adjustments, and safety testing.
This approach helps extend the service life of locomotives, passenger cars, and wagons, while ensuring safe rail operations.

CORRECTIVE MAINTENANCE
Corrective maintenance is carried out when a fault or anomaly is detected on a piece of equipment.
It involves identifying the cause, replacing defective parts, performing the necessary repairs, and validating the return to service through technical tests.
These operations are performed by qualified teams.
The goal is to return the equipment to operation as quickly as possible while ensuring performance levels that comply with standards.
RENOVATION AND MODERNIZATION
The SNTF carries out renovation and modernization programs. Nearly 200 passenger cars have been renovated and refurbished, equipped with modern facilities to ensure greater comfort, including the installation of air conditioning and heating systems, as well as the replacement of seats on all suburban trains.
These works may include :
- Overhauling passenger cars
- Installing new air conditioning systems and passenger information systems.
This modernization enhances the overall level of service.
Second-Class Car
A Sleeping Compartment
In parallel with these operations, the SNTF has launched a locomotive refurbishment program to improve technological performance.
These works may include :
- Overhauling locomotives
- Enhancing energy efficiency
- Extending the service life of locomotives
This modernization allows trains to meet current standards.

Specialized
Workshops
Rolling stock maintenance is carried out in technical centers and specialized workshops located across the national territory.
These facilities are equipped with lifting equipment, industrial tools, test benches, and diagnostic systems.
The teams include mechanics, electricians, electronics technicians, automation specialists, and engineers specialized in the railway sector.
These workshops are at the heart of the network’s operational reliability.
