Periodic monitoring of strategic activities

In implementation of the instructions from the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport regarding the need for periodic monitoring of strategic activities, the Director General of the National Railway Transport Company (SNTF), Mr. Ajag Bouaouni, chaired a meeting at the headquarters of the General Directorate, in the presence of Mr. Wagnouni Faisal, CEO of the subsidiary company, Energy Products Transport Company (STPE), which is the result of a partnership between SNTF and Naftal, aimed at ensuring regular and secure supply of fuel to various regions across the country.

During this meeting, the issue of fuel transport by rail, considered a vital and strategic commodity, was discussed. Detailed explanations were presented to the Director General regarding the transport plan for this commodity and the provinces supplied via the national railway network.
It should be noted that the volume of fuel transported by rail amounts to approximately 1,800,000 tons per year, reflecting the pivotal role of the company in ensuring the supply of this vital commodity to various regions of the country.

During the meeting, the Director General provided instructions to ensure close monitoring of fuel train movements to guarantee smoother transport and supply operations, calling for reinforcement of the transport capacity towards the High Plateaus and the Far South, and increasing the quantities transported to meet the growing national demand.

The Director General also gave several directives regarding the transport of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to study the possibility of resuming the transport of this commodity as well as fuel from Sidi Bel Abbès towards the Southwest, particularly along the Béchar-Tindouf-Gar Djebilet axis.

Finally, the Director General ordered the acceleration of the rehabilitation of 40 tank wagons with a capacity of 65 m³, which will allow an increase of approximately 10% in the total fuel transport capacity by rail.

The initiative aims to raise travelers’ awareness about the importance of early detection and its vital role in preventing the disease and saving lives.

Inauguration of the Zéralda – Réghaïa and Blida – Réghaïa Railway Lines

The Director General of the National Railway Transport Company (SNTF), Mr. Aâdj Bouaouni, accompanied by executives from the General Directorate and the Director of the Algiers Region, supervised on Saturday, July 6, 2024, the launch ceremony of two new railway lines:
Zéralda – Réghaïa – Zéralda
Blida – Réghaïa – Blida

These new lines will allow citizens traveling between the western and eastern parts of the capital to reach their destinations through direct train services.

It is worth noting that previously, travel between the eastern and western suburbs of Algiers required passing through El Harrach Station, which served as a stop and transfer point — leading to longer travel times.

To improve the flow of passenger traffic, the SNTF has commissioned a direct line connecting Djasr Kasentina and Oued Smar stations, enabling direct trips that will simplify passenger movement and shorten travel duration.

In the first phase, six (6) trips will be scheduled between Zéralda and Réghaïa (three outbound and three return) and six (6) trips between Blida and Réghaïa (three outbound and three return).

These new services strengthen the rail transport program for the Algiers suburban network, which includes 140 daily trips connecting the capital with Zéralda, El Affroun, Houari Boumediene Airport, Boumerdès, Thénia, and Tizi Ouzou.

SNTF — striving for better service every day.
